BloodbathA death metal band from Stockholm, Sweden, formed in 1998. Bloodbath was initially a fun side-project founded by Dan Swanö (drums), Anders Nyström (guitar), Jonas Renkse (bass) and Mikael Åkerfeldt (vocals), who started playing and writing songs influenced by the late 1980’s/early 1990's Swedish and American death metal scene. The songs were released as the Breeding Death EP in 2000. Having released their debut album Resurrection Through Carnage in 2002, Åkerfeldt left the band and was replaced by Peter Tägtgren, who performed vocals on the second album Nightmares Made Flesh. Martin Axenrot had also joined the band as a new drummer, while Swanö switched to guitar. Still, Tägtgren was unable to join the band fully due to conflicting schedules and left in 2005. Åkerfeldt was then persuaded to rejoin the band for their first (and back then supposedly only) live performance in Wacken Open Air 2005. In 2006 Swanö was kicked out from the band due to musical differences. In 2008 Åkerfeldt returned to to band and a new guitarist was found in Per “Sodomizer” Eriksson. The same year they released the Unblessing The Purity EP and The Fathomless Mastery full-length album. In April 2012 Åkerfeldt quit the band for good. In September 2014 Nick Holmes was introduced as the band's new vocalist and Grand Morbid Funeral album was released in November. Eriksson left the band in 2017 and was replaced by Joakim Karlsson in 2018 for their fifth album The Arrow Of Satan Is Drawn.
